As Kate Gosselin’s troubled marriage continues to raise ratings, a high school friend of the reality mom remembers how Gosselin used to be before fame hit and adds to the growing criticism that the show should stop for the benefit of the kids.
“In the very beginning I was very optimistic about the show. Kate was sharing her faith and it was all about being a good wholesome family with eight kids but now it's out of control,” the friend told RadarOnline.com exclusively. “[Now] I'm very saddened by the whole thing. It bothers me that Kate and Jon keep saying that everything is for the kids. I feel like if that were true, they would get their acts together and save their marriage.”
“It’s such a sham now. If it is in the best interest of the kids, they would quit the show and get their marriage back on track.”
In high school, Gosselin is remembered for being “fun, outgoing, and happy”- a departure from the high-strung, controlling mom that currently tours America promoting her books. But even then “she definitely liked attention” said the high school friend.
"In the beginning I'm sure they were struggling as a family with many children-that was the appeal to many viewers, they could relate. Kate would wear sweats and a t-shirts and do normal things for the children like a normal mom does. Now its not about the cute kids--it's about Kate and Jon and affairs.”

Sweet Kate Gosselin was engaged before Jon!
Despite Kate proclaiming she loves Asians she was engaged to Adam Miller before Jon. He talked to the Star this week. Red is mine.

Who knew? Kate Gosselin was engaged before she ever met Jon — and now the fiancé she has never spoken about is telling all to Star, and he does not paint a pretty picture.
For starters, Adam Miller says the reality star supermom pressured him to marry her — but he broke off the engagement after she cheated on him at her 21st birthday party. “She hooked up with some guy in a Corvette,” factory worker Adam says in a world exclusive interview. “She was always chasing the money.” (And dear Katie would NEVER cheat on Jon.....)
Kate caught Adam’s eye back in 1995 in the small town of Kutztown, Pa. Adam was 17 and a recent high school graduate. Kate, a nursing student, was a year older. Still he managed to play sugar daddy to his bride-to-be. “I spoiled Kate with gifts, like a diamond bracelet and a gold locket, and she loved that. I think one of the main reasons she liked me is that I had so much money flowing.” (She was all about the money, sex and boys way back then. Slutty, slutty Kate.)
Adam, 33, also reveals that Kate was nothing like the organic-food-loving health nut she is now. “We’d eat mostly hamburgers, fries, Cheetos. A typical night out was at Ruby Tuesday’s!”

Only when he realizes that he's reached this room without being caught by photographers does he crack a smile. (Smug as though he's pulling one over on everyone. ) "All of them are sitting at my house and I'm here," he says, with some satisfaction, of the paparazzi. "I swoop in and swoop out." (Oh yes, Jon, you are so crafty. )
Lately Jon could be forgiven for wanting to disappear entirely. (I don't think so. He's scum of his own making.) Under attack ever since he was caught leaving a bar at 2 a.m. with another woman, the 32-year-old star of the TLC reality hit Jon & Kate Plus Eight – which chronicles his life with wife Kate, 34, their 8-year-old twins and 5-year-old sextuplets – has seen his family become the target of choice for the tabloids. (Maybe because you put them out there for it, Jon, and you refuse to do anything to fix or change it?)
But while Kate spoke openly to PEOPLE in May about the perilous state of her marriage, confessing that "Jon is confused and struggling with a lot of different things," Jon himself is cautious about being too candid. (Because he has a tangled web of lies that is about ready to break. If he continues to talk, as they say.... give them enough rope and they eventually hang themselves.)
Except when the subject turns to his children. "Exploited?," asks Jon. "I don't even want to use that word, because I think it's ridiculous," he says heatedly. Jon insists his children's happiness will remain his focus – even if keeping them happy means quitting the show. (Then QUIT already and prove your dedicatation to the kids. BTW, Jonny, the definition of exploit is "to make use of meanly or unfairly for one's own advantage". That pretty much fits you and Kate.)

Us Magazine: Kate ignored kids on the last trip according to US Magazine.
According to several fellow vacationers, Kate Gosselin didn't pay her eight kids much attention on their getaway to Bald Head Island, N.C., when the camera crew wasn't around - even though she pulled twin daughters Madelyn and Cara, 8, out of school for the for-TV trip.

Between texting on her phone and huddling with her bodyguard Steve Neild (with whom husband Jon once feared she was having an affair), "she completely ignored her children the entire time," fellow vacationer Ann Michele Sweeney tells the newest issue of Us Weekly.
"When Kate sat on the edge of the pool, she told one of [the twins], 'If you splash me, you're dead meat,'" Sweeney says. "She was not joking at all."
The child's response?
"She said, 'Mommy, you are mean!'" Sweeney says.
