Kate has always been a control freak, but dude, with eight kids and a household to manage, who wouldn't be? And Jon has always come across as a real slack-ass. I'm sure he loves his kids, but I think he's acted in a really bad way here.
(Then again, he's had all this responsibility from a young age - maybe a cautionary tale of waiting until you know better who you are and what you want before starting a family?)
